Xavi had some words of advice for prodigious talent Neymar after the departing midfielder explained the argument they were seen having during the open top bus parade
The former Barca captain gave his old team-mate a ticking off over the scenes of the two rowing on as they celebrated winning the Champions League with supporters on the streets of Barcelona.
The 35-year-old was also confirmed as an Al-Sadd player on Thursday, as he begins the next stage of his footballing career in Qatar.
The legendary midfielder has penned a three-year-deal with the Middle Eastern outfit and was presented to the media at the club's Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
This comes after Xavi was caught on camera pushing the Brazil international, who will lead his team at this summer's Copa America in Chile, and the 35-year-old has explained
Speaking to Sport from Qatar where he is about to start his post-Barca career, Xavi said: ‘He (Neymar) was trying to take my shoes off and pushing me when I was on the edge of the bus. I said that they should stop messing about and concentrate on the people that had come out to wave as the bus passed.
'These parades are for the people after all. It’s okay to have three or four beers but the parade is for the people and it’s the chance for us to thank them for our support. You can’t just do what you want to do.’
Neymar was also in trouble in the Spanish Cup final when he flicked the ball over a player’s head in the last minutes of the game and the Athletic Bilbao players accused him of a lack of sportsmanship.
Xavi told Sport: ‘This sort of thing is accepted in Brazil but here he will need to learn how to win and to lose. He is an extraordinary player who also works hard and is very humble but he maybe just needs to reflect a little.
'If you do that [trick] in the first minute when it’s 0-0 it is one thing but if you do it when he did it… he needs to think about that.’
