Manchester City have been a joy to behold in the BPL, with a fearsome attack that make opposition defenders stand in trepidation, but when it comes to the UEFA Champions League, they seem to be a shadow of themselves. I believe they lost to Barcelona because of the following reasons:
1. STARTING NASRI.
Playing against a possession oriented team like Barcelona, the only thing Manuel Pellegrini needed was to beef up his midfield and give David Silva free room to operate, rather than put a much defensive duty on him due to Barca’s style of play. Fernadinho would have been the best option in the absence of Yaya Toure, he would have been able to cover more space and make key diagonal passes to the likes of Silva and Aguero.

2. RECKLESS FERNANDO.
He might be a good talent, but he plays the ball too often
to his own defenders; too many unnecessary back-passes, he lacks the ability to
cover spaces, doesn't know how to tackle silk footed players.
3. NOT STARTING
WILFRED BONY.
Fresh from his AFCON exploits, he would have been the perfect partner to Aguero, he would have started centrally and Aguero moved to a wider area (due to his pace and energy) would have made City’s attack more direct instead of using long balls.

Above is my view and opinion on the first leg of the match,
let us hope City turn the tables in Camp Nou.
