Chelsea captain John Terry downgrades Tottenham's Harry Kane

John Terry has warned Harry Kane he hasn't achieved anything yet

Kane destroyed Chelsea in Tottenham's 5-3 win at White Hart Lane on New Year's Day and hopes to gun them down again at Wembley tomorrow.

But Chelsea captain Terry lit the Blue touch paper ahead of tomorrow's Capital One Cup final by claiming one big performance doesn't make you one of the greats.

Kane has scored 24 goals for Spurs so far this season. But Terry insists he still has to prove he's no flash in the pan.

Terry said: "He has got to be able to do that year after year - and for England I hope he does.

"It is great to see young players coming through and getting their opportunities and staying in the squad so if he keeps scoring there's no reason why he can't stay in.

"He is a very good player. His movement is fantastic and he is in great goal-scoring form. But there's still a long way to go."

Terry insists Chelsea are not out for revenge after their horror show because they've already beaten Spurs 3-0 this season.

He said: "Everyone is rattling on about that. But for me it was fairly comfortable for us at the Bridge when we won 3-0.

"Listen, you do get beat throughout the season, it's not our only defeat this season. Obviously at the time we were disappointed but you move on and bounce back the following week.

"So I don't see it as a revenge thing, 'Oh we have to beat them because they beat us 5-3! We also remember we beat them 3-0. That's football."

Kane gave Gary Cahill nightmares in the January game and the England defender has been in and out of the team since then.

But Cahill insists he has learned his lesson and is confident Kane will not have it all his own way again at Wembley.

He said: "Some days you have an off day. It was one to learn from and forget. You don't dwell on it.

"I thought Harry Kane was a good player before the game. This season he has been terrific and obviously he's pushing for an England place now.

"But this is one game to win the cup and I'm looking forward to it. I don't think the last game has anything to do with this one.

"I've been blessed to win the two European trophies and the FA Cup. This is one I haven't got so I'm unbelievably hungry to win it."
