Harry Kane has revealed that he wears the number 18 shirt for Tottenham Hotspur because Jermain Defoe told him that it was a “goalscoring shirt” before he left the club, the Mirror reports

Kane, 21, has been in sensational form this season scoring 14 Premier League goals for his club and is showing no signs of stopping at the moment.

More importantly, the Englishman bagged a brace against both Arsenal and Chelsea, Spurs’ biggest rivals, and has become a fans favourite with many chanting his name around White Hart Lane on a regular basis.

Now, the 21-year-old has spoken out about why he wears the no.18 shirt previously sported by two other Spurs idols, Jurgen Klinsmann and Defoe.

Kane revealed Defoe passed the jersey down to him with a very special piece of advice before he quit the club.

He said: “When Defoe was leaving, he said: ‘You’ve got to have that number 18 shirt, because it’s a goalscoring shirt.'”

It might not be the number on the back of Kane’s shirt that has been helping him bag so many goals this term but whatever it is, the youngster has been in fantastic form.
