Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina says he does not know if he and Wojciech Szczesny can ever be friends.
The pair are locked in a bitter battle for the number one jersey at the Emirates with the Colombian currently Arsene Wenger’s first choice.
And, in an interview with the Evening Standard, Ospina admitted the pair would find it virtually impossible to have anything other than a curt, professional relationship.
Asked if he thought the rivals could ever become pals he said: ‘Good question’.
‘Unfortunately for us goalkeepers, that’s just the way it is. At the end of the day each of us is fighting to get that one spot.
The rest of the players have got more possibilities of playing. But we do maintain a good relationship and we have to in the training sessions because otherwise it becomes difficult for the team and for the coach.Ospina has replaced Szczesny in 2015 and has started Arsenal’s last six Premier League matches.
