The former England captain has condemned supporters who pushed a black passenger off a Metro in Paris earlier this week, in his programme notes ahead of the game against Burnley
John Terry has described the racism incident involving Chelsea fans on the Paris Metro on Tuesday night as “unacceptable”.The Chelsea captain, who was banned and fined in 2012 by the FA for using racist language towards Anton Ferdinand, used his programme notes ahead of the game against Burnley to condemn the incident which tarnished the 1-1 Champions League draw with Paris Saint Germain.
The former England defender also praised the club for reacting quickly to the situation in which a black passenger, Souleymane S, was pushed off a Parisian Metro by Chelsea fans who were then heard to chant a racist song.
In his notes, ahead of the club's annual Game for Equality, Terry said: "Football is a sport for everyone, that is one of the main reasons why we love it, and what happened on the Paris Metro on Tuesday was unacceptable.
"The club has reacted quickly to deal with the situation and will continue to do so.”
Five men have since been suspended from Stamford Bridge by the club following the incident, while Souleymane S has been invited to attend the second leg, on March 11, as a guest of the club, though he has declined the invitation.
