When France play Brazil this evening, head coach Didier Deschamps has a difficult to decision whether as to he should field Olivier Giroud in attack or Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, but it is a simple choice
Giroud, 28, has been in astonishing form of late with his goals helping Arsenal climb up the Premier League table and into third place, just a single point from second-placed Manchester City.
He has 13 goals in the top flight this season, despite having missed three months with an ankle/shin injury sustained in a freak accident against Everton.
His manager, Arsene Wenger, has joked that he should think about resting Giroud for the first half of every season if this is his goal-scoring form when he returns (via Mirror).
The French striker has scored 11 goals in 2015 in all competitions, almost twice as many as Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema (6), meaning it is the Arsenal man who should start in attack for Les Bleus this evening.
In the top flight alone in 2015, Giroud has scored eight goals in 10 league games, more than double anyone else at Arsenal.
Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla come closest on just three goals so the Frenchman is in fine form.
In fact, only Tottenham Hotspur and England forward, Harry Kane, has more goals than Giroud in the Premier League in 2015.
He has hit 14 goals since the turn of the year to move to the top of the scoring charts in the league with 19 in total, a tally that Giroud is not far off.
