Jack Jones: West Brom's oldest fan

SOCCER : Barclays Premier League - West Bromwich Albion v Southampton

West Brom's oldest fan - 107-year-old Jack Jones - saw his beloved Albion beat Southampton today when he enjoyed a trip to the Hawthorns courtesy of the club

Jack, who turned 107 earlier this month, was a special guest of the club for the match which saw Albion win 1-0.

He was presented with his own personalised shirt - 'Jack 107' - a signed ball in a mounted glass case and a signed shirt from the players, which his Stourbridge care home will auction to raise funds.

Albion captain Darren Fletcher presented the gifts to Jack, who was originally born in Enville, near Stourbridge.

Having spent much of his life as a lorry driver, before going on to build parts for cars at the Austin factory in Longbridge, and then parts for fighter plans during the Second World War.

Jack puts his impressive longevity down to hard work and doing what you love, saying: "If you aren’t doing what you love then why bother?

"You have to keep yourself going and keep yourself active through hard work. As well as being a Baggies devotee, he is also a fan of Banks's bitter.

"Last year, he received a crate of his favourite bitter from Banks’s to commemorate the impressive landmark."
