The Barcelona star has netted 21 goals against the Catalan club’s El Clasico rivals over the years
As Barcelona and Real Madrid prepare to resume hostilities at Camp Nou today, the home crowd will hope that Lionel Messi can inspire his side to victory.
The Argentina international has been in riveting form for the Blaugrana since the turn of the year, with the four-time Ballon d’Or winner spearheading the Catalan club’s assault for a momentous treble in 2014-15.
Messi has played against Real Madrid on 30 occasions in all competitions throughout his Barcelona career, where he has netted 21 times.
The South American has scored hat-tricks against Los Blancos twice, with his first coming in a 3-3 draw back in March 2007 and the latest in a 4-3 away win in March 2014.
Messi has also scored twice against Madrid in the same game on four occasions, with strikes coming in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, Champions League and Spanish Super Cup over the years.
The 27-year-old leads the La Liga goalscoring charts this season with 32 strikes and will hope to add to that as Barcelona look to go for the jugular in this critical title clash later today.
Will Messi add to his 21 goals against Madrid today?
