Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is finally making waves in La Liga, with the Uruguayan scoring the decisive goal in Barca’s 2-1 victory over Real Madrid
But, it hasn’t always been the case for the former Liverpool striker, who relied heavily on the exploits of Lionel Messi and Neymar while he found his feet in Spain.
And now that Suarez is finding the net with trademark regularity, he has taken the opportunity to praise his teammates.
And the ex-Ajax captain even defended Neymar for not passing the ball during El Classico.
Speaking to Spanish paper Marca, Suarez said: “After the run that Neymar went on, he had to go for it rather than pass.
Strikers are selfish. He’s a very determined player and I’m convinced he’ll win a Ballon d’Or or two.”
Suarez also complimented Messi, who despite having a quiet game against Madrid, had a fantastic match against Manchester City in the Champions League: “You don’t need much time to discover Messi’s quality. The connection with him has been very easy.”
