Mourinho is responsible for my poor form
Andre Schurrle has been speaking this week about his relatively poor form since joining Wolfsburg in the January transfer window
The German international hasn't quite been able to get himself into perfect condition to help the club since they paid so much for him during the winter window. It's no concern to Wolfsburg right now, of course they would have preferred for Schurrle to be completely firing from day one but the aim of the transfer was always success for next season and Schurrle himself says he's having to adapt his fitness.
Schurrle has explained that the training at Chelsea and in England simply isn't as good as it is in Germany and that it's hard to get to peak fitness if you're not playing almost every game. In Germany clubs have a winter break and then after that something of a mini pre-season, this helps players get a fitness top-up and Schurrle believes he's missed out on that.
SportBild quote the Wolfsburg player as saying "I'm still missing the last percent. In England there is no winter break. In the summer I had after the World Cup just two weeks preparation. In January I had in the two weeks of the change almost no training because of back problems.
"At top English clubs during the season the players are hardly loaded with any training, since it's almost all about regeneration and tactics. In England you can get your fitness through the season with the games. At Chelsea because we had the championship, Champions League and the different club competitions, we played every three days."
Schurrle said that unlike in Germany, those not in the team aren't really trained so hard so it's hard to get to top fitness and he thinks that's been behind his failure to set the Bundesliga alight so far. SportBild are clear in what their take on the interview is and they headline the piece 'Mourinho is to blame!'
