Olivier Giroud has thanked Arsene Wenger for giving him the opportunity to bounce back after his horror show on Wednesday
The Frenchman had a nightmare against Monaco in the knockout stages of the Champions League as his side went down 3-1 at The Emirates.
But while Per Mertesacker paid for his dismal display by being dropped, Giroud was given a shot at redemption and set the Gunners on course for a 2-0 win over Everton.
Giroud said: "Arsene Wenger gave me the possibility to bounce back.
"We wanted to do that together and I think we did well this afternoon. We started on the front foot and pressed them high.
"We will take things step-by-step. We just want to focus on our games, we just need to keep doing what we are doing."
Victory was a necessity for Arsenal after Liverpool won the day's early kick off 2-1 at home to Manchester City.
The win means the Gunners maintain their three-point advantage over the Reds who sit in fifth place in the Premier League.
