Roberto Mancini: Manuel Pellegrini's Manchester City success is all down to me
Roberto Mancini reckons Manuel Pellegrini was lucky to inherit the team he built during his spell as Manchester City boss
And he cranked up the pressure on the under-fire Pellegrini by claiming City should win a trophy every season because of the massive investment on players from the club's Abu Dhabi owners.
Mancini brought stars like Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri to the club - while Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta were there during his predecessor Mark Hughes' reign.
Those players remain the backbone of City's squad and Mancini, now boss at Inter Milan after a spell in charge of Galatasaray, said in an interview with CNN: "I think that Pellegrini was really lucky because he got this team that is a strong team and he had the chance to put inside other good players and he improved his team.
"Maybe I miss the Premier League because I worked there for three-years-and-a-half and I built the team that now is in second position because I think that they play the same players and I’m very proud of this.
"City must win a title, try to win a title every year. It’s my opinion that City is the best team in the Premier League, even though now it’s in the second position.
"They are six or nine points behind Chelsea but everything can happen until the last game. We won the Premier League in the last minute and I think that they still have a chance to win the title this season.
"I had a fantastic moment in England. We won a Premier League after many years. I have all City supporters in my heart. I have all that moment in my heart because it was an incredible moment and it’s impossible to forget this."
