Xavi to team up with Villa and Lampard
Barcelona captain Xavi Hernandez looks to join forces with Frank Lampard and David Villa at MLS franchise New York City at the end of the season
Xavi’s current contract expires in the summer and the former Spain midfielder looks set to sign for Manchester City’s MLS franchise, ready for the start of the 2016 season.
According to the Daily Mail, the Spaniard, who has played more games than any other in Barcelona’s history and won every honour possible will join former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and former team-mate David Villa having played a small role this campaign.
The veteran midfielder looks as if he is set to leave, as he was last summer, but decided to stay for one more season with the side following a conversation with coach Luis Enrique.
His exit from the club will mark the end of an era, where the club legend started off as an 11-year-old, going on to make 700 appearances.
