Zlatan Ibrahimovic Has NEVER Played More Than 100 Times For A Club

Commitment Issues? Zlatan Ibrahimovic Has NEVER Played More Than 100 Times For A Club

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s talents defy convention. Has anyone been so good at so many clubs, in so few games?

We all know Zlatan Ibrahimovic has gotten around. We love him, of course we do. But the guys has seen many a changing room. Heart throb when he plays for you, heart breaker when he leaves. But despite obvious his predisposition to leave, we were still shocked to figure this nugget of information out.

Right now, Ibrahimovic is just four appearances away from making Paris St. Germain the club he has made the most appearances for. Ever. The striker currently has 85 appearances and 68 goals for the Paris club. We can’t be the only ones who find that news shocking? Let’s run through the numbers a little.

So far, the least amount of games Zlatan has chalked up at a club is Barcelona where he played just 29 times, clocking up 16 goals all the same. In fact, his average appearances per club is 63.85. In other words, two fully-fit seasons that include European football. You might have thought maybe Inter or Juventus had the Swede for at least 100 matches, we know we did. No. We were wrong of course.

In fact, Ibrahimovic played more for Ajax (74) than he did for Juventus (70). Inter do of course currently hold the title for keeping Zlatan the longest, an impressive 88 games given his tendency to travel.

Phwoar that's a lot of goals in not a lot of games.

In 2012, nobody would have thought Ibrahimovic would be so close to a milestone like this with Paris St. Germain. Realistically were PSG to get to the Champions League final Zlatan will miss at least one match meaning he could only feature at most, four times. That brings him up to 89 appearances. That coupled with 10 remaining Ligue 1 matches would take him to 99. Then there’s a French Cup semi-final and possibly final. That means that a perfect end to the season could be record breaking in more ways than one.

First off, it’s a first Champions League for the man who most definitely deserves ones. Second of all, it’d be 101 apps, making PSG the first club to have had the man for a century of matches.

Of course, with your mind sufficiently blown we leave you with one final and important question. Is Zlatan Ibrahimovic the only footballer to have recorded more caps for his country (101) than individual appearances for any of the clubs he has played for?
