Pardew plans to delay Chelsea title celebration

Alan Pardew and Jose Mourinho

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew hopes his side can keep the Premier League title race going by beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday

The Blues will win the title with a win, while Palace are safe in 12th despite two straight defeats.

He said: "We need to respond following our recent defeats, for ourselves and to keep the title race interesting.

"We've got to try to produce a performance that doesn't get carried away in the emotion of the day."

Pardew watched Chelsea a lot and shadowed manager Jose Mourinho before becoming Newcastle boss in 2010.

"If there is a team that I know well, it'd be Chelsea. I studied there," he said. "They will dominate possession and the two thirds of the pitch that we have to defend, but we carry a threat."

Mourinho says he has no plans to celebrate if the Blues do win the league on Sunday.
"I think I go home," he said. "In this moment we have nothing prepared, we have nothing organised, so normally I finish the game and I go home."

Chelsea could have won the title in midweek against Leicester, had they beaten Arsenal last Sunday, but drew 0-0.

However, Mourinho is not worried. He said: "Similar to Arsenal, similar to Leicester, we go to win, but any point that we get is a positive point, so we are calm."
