I can lead Kotoko to an African title

Former Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics Coach, Mohammed Polo believes he can end Asante Kotoko’s 32-year-wait for an African inter-club competition title if given the coaching job with maximum support

After successfully clinching the Premier League title over the past three seasons, the club is now eager to taste success in the CAF Champions League after failing to reach the group stage of the continental competition in their last three attempts.

Kotoko will open their CAF Champions League campaign this season against either El Eulma or St. George on March 16.

“Hearts and Kotoko is almost on the same line. The pressure at Hearts is the same as Kotoko, but the only thing is you need the support. If Kotoko can give me the needed support, I can even lead them to win the Africa inter-club competition,” Polo told Oman FM.

Kotoko recently asked Coach Masud Dramani to proceed on a mandatory four-month leave following agitations from Fabulous fans over the club’s jerky start to this season’s Premier League. Kotoko are likely to hire a new coach once Dramani’s exit is amicably settled.

The 1978 Africa Cup of Nations winner has not handled any Premier League since leaving Hearts of Oak in May 2014, where he led the Phobians to a third place finish in domestic top flight.
