Adam Johnson, a 15-year-old child, a dangerous world

I am a firm believer in “you reap what you sow”

I say to my husband all the time that if he goes out clubbing and gets pissed in public, then he must face the consequences. Just for the record, he still goes.

Shit happens to footballers 98 per cent of the time when they are intoxicated or on a night out. It’s not rocket science, for God’s sake.

If you just stay within the safe walls of your home and keep your head down, then “situations” would not happen.

In my opinion, it’s a teeny, tiny price to pay for a successful, extremely well-paid career.

Unfortunately, footballers need to feed their egos. And the attention they receive when they go out does just this.

Of course, it’s predominantly from the female sort that caresses those egos the most.

In the case of Adam Johnson, the Sunderland midfielder was arrested on suspicion of having had “sexual activity” with a 15-year-old girl.

When I was 15, I didn’t have a mobile phone let alone access to any sort of social media as it simply didn’t exist.

I was gearing myself for my GCSEs, my school skirt reached my knees and I would giggle with my friends all night long during sleepovers at our homes.

Nightclubs and bars were a million miles off my radar. I was still a child.

The problem nowadays is that girls of 15 do not look 15. They look more like 19.

I know this because I have a 15-year-old niece who, every time I see her, looks older and acts more grown up than I actually do.

The fact that I have been having regular Botox obviously helps with my eternal youthful looks!

My niece has a cracking dress sense, platinum blonde hair extensions and can perfect her makeup to a professional makeup artist’s standard.

She is constantly on Twitter airing her dirty laundry to her hundreds of followers. And she has no idea who they are.

For a 15-year-old today, it’s a totally different world … and a dangerous one at that.

In Johnson’s defence, IF this story is true, I very much doubt he or any other bloke looking to pull a bird does a quick passport date-of-birth check before he whisks them away to give them a good seeing to.

I’m damn sure that had he known her age, he would have given her a wide berth. At least, if he has one brain cell, he would have done.

Sadly, the majority of footballers I have met have only half a brain cell, so who knows?

The fact is that this teenage girl put herself out there and even bragged about her antics on Twitter. This is why I do not have much sympathy for her.

Irrespective of her allegedly having underage sex, she wasn’t the one complaining. Quite the contrary, it was her dad!

I’m sure a massive lesson has been learnt from the disappointment of her family and those who have given her abuse online over the matter.

Ultimately, she has succeeded with sleeping with a footballer – which she bragged about – and, sadly, this is a life ambition for some.

In my opinion, it’s Johnson’s poor partner, Stacey Flounders, and her family who hold the largest proportion of “rawness” on the raw-deal scale here.

She only gave birth to his daughter seven weeks ago, for goodness sake. What a total idiot he is!

Irrespective of whether he is guilty or not, he must have brought so much stress and upset to his family at a time where there should be joy and happiness.

I know how I felt after I had just had a baby – vulnerable, fat and, basically, a sleep-deprived wreck.

I could no way have dealt with any of this crap, that’s for sure. Or at any other time in my life, for that matter.

Apparently, Stacey is standing by Johnson and fully supporting him. Would I support my husband in this situation?

Obviously, if it was all total lies, I would be absolutely raging at the story even breaking. But I would stay with him and support him fully.

The same goes for my very understanding family, too.

However, if he was found guilty, he would get a massive “Rot in jail, you piece of crap”.

After all, I know I am better than to be treated like that … and so should Stacey.

The trust would be gone and I wouldn’t be able to bear him coming anywhere near me ever again.

Cheating on me would be a massive blow, doubled by the fact that it was with a child, and would just send me right over the edge.
