Adam Johnson recieves death threats over child sex allegations
England football star Adam Johnson was blitzed with death threats after being accused of bedding a 15-year-old girl fan
The Sunderland winger stayed away last night as his side took on Hull City in a vital Premier League relegation clash.
He has been suspended by the club while police probe his relationship with a teenage supporter he is understood to have met online.
She is said to have asked him for an autographed Sunderland shirt.
Johnson was arrested after the girl reportedly boasted about the “relationship” to her friends and on social media.
Her dad found out and he is said to have complained to the police.
Johnson, 27, who played 12 times for England, was arrested at 9.15am on Monday at his £1.85million mansion in Co Durham on suspicion of sex with an underage girl.
He was questioned for most of the day before being released on police bail pending further inquiries.
But his arrest caused internet outrage and led to him being targeted with threats which were being monitored by police.
One Twitter user wrote: “You filthy f***ing p*********. I’ll kill you.’’
Another wrote: “If true shoot the sick bastard.”
The £50,000-a-week player’s longterm model girlfriend Stacey Flounders, 25, who gave birth to their first baby Ayla Sofia in January, is standing by him.
Her mum Debra, 53, said the family believed him to be “100% innocent”.
A family friend said: “Everyone is shattered by this, but we all know that it isn’t true. If there is a victim it’s Adam.
“We believe he has been targeted because he’s a footballer.”
The girl was last night identified online.
Durham Police last night issued a warning to remind that anyone who dares to publicly name the girl will face prosecution.
