Neil Ashton has revealed in a question and answer session with the Daily Mail that Angel Di Maria faces a battle to keep his family in the country, after his wife wants to leave England
The Argentina international has been struggling for form on the pitch for Manchester United, having recently been the hero and villain in the FA Cup quarter-final against Arsenal.
Di Maria set up Wayne Rooney’s goal, but was then red-carded after he grabbed hold of referee Michael Oliver’s shirt.
The 27-year-old now has a dilemma on his hands according to Daily Mail’s Ashton, as to whether he can continue his career on his own, what with his wife wanting to move away from Manchester.
“The club need to be supportive off the field, to create an environment so that his family can settle in the north west and enjoy their life in Cheshire,” Ashton told the Daily Mail.
“His wife wants to leave the country and return to Argentina, and Di Maria is wrestling with that decision: Let her leave with the children and leave him to continue his United career, or move to another club more suited to their lifestyle in Europe. Tough one.”
Di Maria has been United’s main creative source in the Premier League, creating 45 chances in 20 games, and he will want to continue till the end of the season before making his mind as to where he wants to play next season.
The Argentinian midfielder is expected to feature against Liverpool and may well want to kick on and create more chances for his teammates, having shown glimpses of coming back to his best against the Gunners yesterday.
