Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Martin Skrtel is "fine" and could have returned to the action despite being carried off on a stretcher
The big Liverpool defender was moved onto a hard board and put in a neck brace as a precaution, following a heavy landing in which doctors feared that he could have been concussed.
Skrtel was replaced after just 12 minutes of action at Anfield, following nearly 10 minutes worth of treatment.
But Rodgers confirmed following the 0-0 draw on Sunday evening that the Slovakian is in fact fine and would have been fit to return to the action.
However, he insists that the medical staff have to be listened to.
Speaking to BBC 5Live, Rodgers said: "Martin Skrtel is fine. He could have played on but you have to listen to the medical team and the experts and he is fine in the changing room.
He fell heavily so there was a feeling he could have been knocked out or concussed but I'll leave that to the medical experts."
Rodgers is content with the week that Liverpool have had, despite not securing their place at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals.
Following on from wins over Manchester City and Burnley in the Premier League, they will now have to wait until their return leg at Ewood Park before finding out if they will make the trip to the capital next month.
But Rodgers says that the club have exceeded expectations this week.
He said: "Our objective this week was to get four points out of six in the league and get into the next round of the FA Cup. We got six points out of six and although we are not through to the next round, we are still in the draw.
"We kept a clean sheet and still have big confidence. We just lacked that final ball.
"We don't play until next Monday and that gives us a chance to prepare well. They put so much into the game but couldn't find the breakthrough."
Given the upcoming international break and UEFA's demand that Champions League weeks are kept free of domestic football, a date is yet to be set for the FA Cup replay.
With a hectic Easter schedule approaching as well, Liverpool might be forced to squeeze the replay in over one of the coming couple of weekends.
