Jerome Boateng reveals his most valuable shirt came from Chelsea’s Didier Drogba
Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng has admitted the most valuable shirt he has ever received in a swap belonged to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba (via Bayern Munich’s YouTube account)
The pair came up against one another in the 2011/12 Champions League final between Bayern Munich and eventual winners Chelsea.
Roberto Di Matteo’s Blues won the clash on penalties, despite being huge underdogs as the game took place in Bayern’s own back yard, the Allianz Arena.
Drogba, who scored the winning penalty in that match, has since left and then returned to Stamford Bridge, where he has been reunited with Jose Mourinho – the manager who brought him to west London from Marseille.
Speaking in regards to his most valuable swapped shirt, Boateng said: “My most valuable one [shirt swapped]… I would say Drogba.”
The 36-year-old Ivorian has scored three times in 21 Premier League games for the Blues this season, although 18 of those appearances have come from the substitutes bench.
Boateng, on the other hand, is part of the meanest defence of any team playing in Europe’s top five leagues. The Bavarians have conceded just ten times in 23 games, and Boateng has played in 18 of those.
The German World Cup winner also boasts some incredible personal stats for this season: he has won 33/56 tackles (59%), 39/60 headers (65%) and completed 6/9 take-ons (67%).
