Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says a compact performance was the key to beating Tottenham in the League Cup final this afternoon
John Terry's first-half strike and an own goal from Diego Costa earned the blues their first trophy under Mourinho's second reign as manager.
The Portuguese celebrated his third League Cup triumph, having won the tournament in 2005 and 2007.
And he explained his tactics before praising Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino for his side's efforts at Wembley.
"My players were fantastic," he said on Sky Sports.
"We had a team with a great balance, very compact. We didn't have problems - they had a couple of chances, but nothing else.
"We controlled the game and I expected more from us on the counter-attack but we played like we should play a final."
He added: "I'm really happy. I think I should start by talking about Tottenham and Mauricio because they are a fantastic team and he is building a great team.
"They gave us a fantastic match and I feel sorry for them because he is doing fantastic work.
"I know he is a proud man with the team he brought to this final."
