Luis Suarez's agent reveals real reasons for Liverpool exit
The Uruguayan striker shocked Liverpool fans when he made a £75million move to the Camp Nou shortly after guiding the Reds to a second-place Premier League finish
But the 28-year-old's representative, Pere Guardiola - brother of Bayern Munich boss Pep - claims that Suarez could not resist a move to a club he dreamed of playing for as a child.
He told Four Four Two: "When he was in Uruguay, Luis dreamed of playing for a major European team and he did at Liverpool in a league as competitive as the Premier League.
"But Barcelona is something else. Something special. This is the club he loves.
"The opportunity to play for a club like this one comes very rarely and you should take advantage.
"This kind of transfer is a process. It does not happen in a day. In the case of Luis, it happened over three months.
"There was contact before the World Cup - some time before.
"I am in contact with many clubs, but this time it was different.
"From when we discussed the transfer for the first time, it was a long road with many obstacles."
Arsenal thought that had landed the Uruguayan international in the summer of 2013 when they made a £40,000,001 bid in an attempt to trigger the player's release clause at Liverpool.
But the Reds hierarchy held firm, calling Arsenal's bluff and ultimately succeeding in holding onto Suarez for a further season, where he almost guided them to the Premier League table.
He told Four Four Two: "That was the moment that made me most uncomfortable with Luis - especially for me and our relationship.
"Because of the confusion about the release clause? Because of the confusion, because of what we had already agreed with the club, because situations change and force you to do things that make you uncomfortable.
"It was a difficult summer, and Luis had to train away from the team. Everything was in the press."
He added: "To be honest, last summer was as difficult to manage as the previous with the aborted transfer to Arsenal"
