Serial prankster Tommy Dunn conned his way onto Barca team coach prior to Champions League game at City
Tommy Dunn put on a blue suit, shirt and tie to con his way on to the team coach outside Salford’s five-star hotel, the Lowry.
He got on board as the players were about to be driven to the Etihad and dazzle the Blues in a 2-1 Champions League win last week, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Tommy, from Salford, said: “I knew in advance that the Barca team were staying at The Lowry Hotel.
"I got up that morning and said to my lads ‘I think I will try and get on the team bus today’.
“I waited for the team to come out then went up to the driver, who asked me who I was and I said I was security and would be travelling with the team to the ground.“I sat behind the driver and greeted the players as they got on the coach by saying ‘Hola’ to each one.
“Lionel Messi answered me in broken English, saying ‘Hello’.
“Then the manager, Luis Enrique, got on, and thought I was the driver. He said ‘let's go’.
“I said, ‘no, I’m with the driver’. He was round the back of the coach putting bags in.
“At that point I got off the coach. I had the suit, tie, shirt, the whole shebang.”
Tommy recorded his stunt with a hidden camera.
He has a long history of pranks, getting close to Real Madrid players on the pitch as they performed a victory jig after their Champions League success last year.
Tommy, a lifelong Red, said: “It is down to confidence and having the front.
“It happens all the time, security is so lax.
“If it gives people a laugh it can’t be a bad thing.”
Five years ago, Tommy, and his son, also called Tommy, infiltrated the hotel of the England football team.
They were among three men who secretly filmed a sting operation on John Terry but also gained access to an accredited area of the Hertfordshire hotel where players attend media commitments.
Dressed in suits, the hoaxers spent an entire day in and around the grounds of the five-star Grove Hotel without detection.
