Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has responded to his manager Alan Pardew's claim that he should cheer up by saying: "I will smile when I need to."
Following Palace's 3-1 win over QPR - in which Zaha scored the first goal - just over a week ago, Pardew said the 22-year-old had not been "smiling enough" and was prone to having "a little sulk".
Pardew suggested that was something Zaha needed to "get rid of", along with thoughts of his disappointing time with Manchester United, for the good of his game and career.
The twice-capped England international then showed a range of emotions on Saturday in Palace's 2-1 victory at Stoke, looking frustrated as he picked up a booking for shoving Geoff Cameron but then grinning broadly after he netted for a second successive match, coolly slotting away what proved to be the winner.
And Zaha said after the contest: "When it is time to be serious I'm serious. When it is time to play around I will play around.
"I will smile when I need to."
