Inter attacking midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri believes his side have what it takes to dispose of Wolfsburg in the Europa League round of 16
The former Bayern Munich star is familiar with the Nerazzurri’s opponents from two-and-a-half years spent in the German Bundesliga, and recognises the stiff challenge they pose.
“I know many of the Wolfsburg players so it’s nice to meet them in a European tie,” said Shaqiri during a pre-match press conference.
“Wolfsburg are a strong and complete team, but we want to continue our journey [through the Europa League competition].”
Shaqiri turned down overtures from a number of English clubs in order to join Serie A giants Inter during the January transfer window and was swiftly included within Roberto Mancini’s European squad.
The 23-year-old Swiss international has made 11 appearances in all competitions since moving to Italy.
