Tim Sherwood has vowed not to let Aston Villa slip back into "depression mode" after their home defeat to Swansea City on Saturday
Bafetimbi Gomis' 87th-minute winner condemned Villa to a 1-0 defeat that leaves Sherwood's men just three points above the Premier League drop zone.
But the Villa boss insists he will not allow the squad's morale to fall as low as it was when he took over from Paul Lambert in February.
He said: "We can't take this defeat too deeply or we'll slip back into that depression mode which I don't want.
"It was very low (when I arrived), they were on the floor, they hadn't won in seven Premier League games and I don't expect them to be doing cartwheels around the training ground.
"It has picked up and it has picked up with a few results and the belief that what we're doing is the right way forward. This is a little blip and a bump in the road and we need to get over it.
"It was low when I came in but it's turned around now."
