John Terry put Chelsea within touching distance of the title - then revealed it took a rocket from boss Jose Mourinho to make it happen
The Chelsea skipper put the Blues in front with an effort off his shin to set up a potential title party in front of their own fans against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
And Terry said: “We are almost there. They were a tough side and they kept fighting.
“We got a telling off at half-time and we came out and played excellently in the second half. It wasn't good enough in the first half but we got the three points.
“What the manager has done with this side in the last two years is remarkable. We've been the best side all season. We deserve a lot of respect, we've been very good all year.
Let’s hope we win it on Sunday.”Having gone in a goal down at half time to a spirited Leicester side, Chelsea responded three minutes after the restart when Didier Drogba pulled them level before Terry put them ahead and Ramires capped the win with a fine finish.
The away fans ironically chanted: ‘boring, boring Chelsea’ and ‘are you watching Arsenal’ after being mocked by Gunners supporters last weekend.
Now Chelsea fans are ready to party as victory over Palace on Sunday will confirm them as title winners. And Drogba said: “We are maybe scared to win the league! Two wins and we get the trophy but this one was very difficult. In the second half we came back and made sure that we won it. We scored fantastic goals.
“We don’t get enough credit. We are top of the league, we have the most points and people find us boring because we’ve been top since day one.”
Victory extended Chelsea’s unbeaten run to their last 14 top-flight matches and tees up their first title in five years and Mourinho said: “It is phenomenal what they are doing, top of the league since day one is not easy.”
