Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is considering offloading striker Robin van Persie this summer, according to The Guardian
The 31-year-old’s Old Trafford future is now hanging in the balance, with the Red Devils reportedly ready to listen to offers for him.
Van Persie, who will celebrate his 32nd birthday in August, enters the final 12 months of the four-year contract he signed when he arrived from Arsenal in June.
After firing United to the title in his debut season, his impact has dwindled over the past two campaigns
Having fallen down the pecking order and suffered with form and fitness in Van Gaal’s first season in charge, he could now be sold this summer despite the pair having enjoyed a good working relationship during their time working together for the Netherlands national team.
Wayne Rooney is now established as United’s first-choice striker, while a deal is in the bag to bring PSV Eindhoven attacker Memphis Depay to Old Trafford this summer.
Van Persie has 10 goals in 28 appearances so far this season.
