Heurelho Gomes has launched a scathing attack on Tottenham - warning players not to sign for the club
Watford keeper Gomes spent six years at White Hart Lane before leaving in 2014 and has accused the club of ruining the careers of the players they have signed.
Speaking about the struggles of fellow Brazilian Paulinho, who has only played 15 games this season and completed 90 minutes just twice, Gomes says fault lies with Spurs - not the player.
'It’s the club (who are to blame). Certainly, I would not recommend to anyone (to join Spurs),' Gomes told ESPN.
The 34-year-old goes on to highlight how Willian, who rejected Tottenham for Chelsea, is thriving at Stamford Bridge and also cites the struggles Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela - both of whom have under performed after big-money moves.
He said: 'They paid £28million for Soldado, and they don’t play him. Or look (at) Lamela, who was a great (prospect) in Europe, but today you watch Tottenham games and he looks like he can’t play football at all.'
Gomes tweeted after the article posted, writing on the social media site: (sic) 'It's unbelievable how people try's to make trouble, never said that Spurs are what they are saying!
'Was just saying about Paulinho's situation and about my situation, I was disappointed they way they treated me !
'I'm still supporting this great Football Club and I will continue do, I have a lot of respect for tottenham !
'Just only not agree with the way they treat some players, and I feel very sorry for that , because you're a great football club!
I had great time, unfortunately it didn't end up in right way but I really enjoyed my time ! Like you use to love me I do love you as well.'
