Gareth Bale will return to his natural, left-sided position next season under new Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez
Numerous reports in Spain have stated that the former Napoli, Chelsea and Liverpool boss has already decided on a 4-2-3-1 shape for his new-look Madrid as they attempt to topple treble-winning Barcelona.
The focal point of this team will be Cristiano Ronaldo, whose aging legs will see him shifted to centre-forward. This is set to allow Bale to return to the left flank, the position where he made his name at Tottenham before being moved into a more central role.
A casualty of this switch will be Karim Benzema, a key component of the Bernabeu club's 'BBC' frontline last season but now considered a back-up option.
It is most likely these revelations that have led to a flurry of talk that the France international could be on the move, reportedly unhappy with playing second fiddle to the Portuguese.
Bale endured a tough second season in Spain, receiving abuse from fans, criticism from the press and with visible tension between him and some teammates. Club president Florentino Perez has strongly backed him both publicly and in private, and though this has allegedly upset Ronaldo, Perez is unmoved on Bale's place in his Real Madrid project.
It was down the left wing that Bale enjoyed his best moment yet for the Spanish giants, covering 59 metres in an astonishing seven seconds (including one monumental detour) to score a memorable winner in last year's Copa del Rey final.
But Benitez, who left Napoli to take over the Spanish giants and Perez have already had their first disagreement over the club's transfer policy.
According to Spanish daily AS, Benitez wants to bring Juventus striker Alvaro Morata back to the club, less than 12 months after his £17million move to the Italian club.
However, as the club seeks a new striker, Benitez's want clashes with the desire of Madrid supremo Perez, who wants Manchester City's Sergio Aguero.
Morata has a clause in his contract at Juve which allows the 22-year-old to return to Madrid this summer for a fee of £21million.
That figure rises in 12 months to £25.5million.
After his starring role in the Bianconeri's run to the Champions League final, it's reckoned that Benitez sees him as the ideal man to spearhead his attack next season - with the Spaniard unsure over France international Karim Benzema. However Perez, who is always seeking his next 'Galactico', wants to take former Atletico Madrid forward Aguero back to La Liga, having been a long-term admirer of the Premier League golden boot winner.
Yet any figure for the Argentine would likely cost in excess of £60million after his exploits for City in 2014-15, where he struck 32 times in just 42 games.
That record is better than both Benzema and Morata - 22 and 15 respectively - while Madrid would need to sell before being able to finance a move for the 27-year-old.
