Di Maria regrets joining Manchester united

Manchester United midfielder Angel Di Maria believes that he made a mistake joining the club last summer, as reported by The Metro.

United signed the 27-year-old from Real Madrid for a British record fee of £59.7 million, but his form has faded after an encouraging start to his career in English football.

He has scored three goals and registered eight assists in the league, but has only been directly involved in two goals in his last eight appearances in the top-flight.


The Argentina international was superb for Los Blancos last season, creating 17 goals, more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues. He also delivered a man-of-the-match performance in the Champions League final to help Real lift the trophy for a record 10th time.

Spanish journalist Manuel ‘Manolete’ Esteban claims that Di Maria regrets leaving the European champions, telling La Goleada, as reported by The Metro: “Di Maria has confessed to someone at Real Madrid that he regrets joining Manchester United.”

Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain were also chasing Di Maria’s signature last summer, but were unable to match United’s offer due to UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations. The Metro claims that they could make a fresh attempt to sign him at the end of the season.

United are currently fourth in the league, a point clear of Southampton in fifth and two clear of Liverpool in sixth, and they take on Sunderland at Old Trafford this weekend.
