Is this Brendan Rodgers' secret plan to finish in top four?

Rodgers has given his team some time to rest and recuperate after playing three games in the space of seven days

With Swansea not until after the weekend and no midweek fixture to contend with, Rodgers reckons this is the perfect chance to give his men a timely rest.

But, the boss insists his team will be right at it when they travel to south Wales and this rest will help them to reach the top four.

Liverpool are currently fifth in the league, two points off Manchester United.

The Reds host United on March 22, a fixture that will go a long way to determining who will finish in the Champions League places.

Rodgers said: "The players have two days off now after everything that they have put in over this period.

"And they deserve that because they have put so much effort into getting us into the position that we're in.

"But after that, we'll recover and be ready to go again.

"Swansea is another big game for us and we want to continue performing to the level that has allowed us to pick up the number of points that we have.

"They deserve a rest, but we'll get ready after those couple of days and look forward to the next game."
