Latest FIFA World Ranking: Spain drop out of top 10

Only seven games have been played since the last rankings were released, but 'devaluation of past results' has led to some movement

England have slipped to 17th place in the FIFA World Ranking – despite not having played since the last edition of the table.

Only seven friendly matches have been played worldwide since the last edition of the list, five of them in the North, Central America and Caribbean zone. As such the changes to the ranking reflect 'devaluation of past results'.

17th place is England's lowest standing since 2000, but Roy Hodgson's men are not the only ones to have fallen back: Spain have dropped out of the top ten for the first time in nine years.

Spain were replaced in tenth by Italy, while Romania and the Czech Republic were the other sides in the top 20 to rise.

The top nine remain unchanged, meaning Germany and Argentina occupy first and second spots respectively.
