Olivier Giroud admits modeling his eye-catching look on David Beckham

Giroud is not the only Arsenal player to admit to paying extra attention to their looks, as Mesut Ozil has confessed to taking a male grooming bag to games

Olivier Giroud has admitted to admiring David Beckham as an inspiration for the way he looks.

The ridiculously handsome Arsenal striker says that Beckham's style is iconic - and for that reason, he will base the way he looks on the former England captain.

He also says that he also used to look at talismanic Ukranian striker Andriy Shevchenko as a role model for the way he conducts himself both on and off the pitch.

Speaking to GQ Style, h e said: “David Beckham is a top man. I love the guy and what he can show in terms of style as well. He’s really classy, an icon… When I was young, I looked up to Andriy Shevchenko. He was so elegant, and on the pitch as well.

But Giroud is more than happy to go role reversal and take on the role of inspiration for people in France.

The 28-year-old admits that he has seen plenty of people imitating his famous quiff in his native land.

He said: “Yes, they try to do the quiff. Especially in France, I see a lot of them. It is funny because they try to imitate me – but it is always a pleasure.”

But Giroud is not the only Arsenal player to speak about the way he looks, with German midfielder Mesut Ozil also admitting to taking extra care in the way he looks.

Also speaking to GQ Style, Ozil opened up about his interests away from the field of play.

He said: “I think as a human being you need variety; you can’t just do football, you need a combination. Football is of course my main focus, which is a lot of fun and I love to be on the pitch. But I have other interests beside that, like fashion or being with my family.”

And it isn't just on match-days that Ozil is interested in looking good, he has admitted to paying special attention to the way that he looks on a match-day.

He said: “I bring my own grooming kit to the game... moisturiser, gel and shampoo – I like to take care of myself… Football players like to take care of themselves and pay attention to the way they dress.”

But it should be no surprise that Arsenal players take so much care in the way that they look.

The Gunners have a unique partnership with Lanvin to be their official tailor, meaning that Paris' oldest fashion house will dress the key representatives of the club, including manager Arsene Wenger and first-team players.

Alber Elbaz has spoken about the unique partnership they have.

He said: "I don’t think that we’d ever, in a million years, think of contacting a football team to do this. I’ve never been to one football match in my life… I’m flattered they like us and that the whole thing has happened, but it wasn’t a part of a publicity machine... maybe the fact we didn’t make a big noise around it [has made it a success]."
