Shamed Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria could have been in more hot bother with the authorities on Monday night - had Michael Oliver had spoken Spanish

After receiving his first booking, Di Maria angrily attempted to confront the referee. In doing so, it has been suggested that the Argentinian called Oliver a 'son of a b****' in Spanish - 'hijo de puta'.

Di Maria was sent off for United after picking up a pair of inexcusable yellow cards within seconds of each other.

First, he collapsed to the ground in a heap, which Oliver correctly saw as a dive, before he was given his marching orders for pulling the referee's shirt in protest at the decision.

Despite his recent poor performances for United, Di Maria was called up for the latest Argentina squad, ahead of two games at the end of the month.
